Getting Started
Before braces are placed, patients must visit their dentist for a thorough exam, cleaning and any necessary repairs, such as fillings. During treatment, patients should continue to visit their dentist every 6 months for a thorough examination and cleaning. Patients are encouraged to brush their teeth at each appointment. Prepasted toothbrushes are provided in our office for your convenience.
Convenient Appointments
West Georgia Orthodontics staff schedules appointments to fit your busy lifestyle. Our staff makes every effort to accommodate each patient’s schedule, however we alternate between morning and afternoon appointments to ensure that all patients are treated fairly. We request a 24-hour cancellation notice to eliminate an additional charge to our patients, plus proper notice assist with eliminating delays and inconsistency in scheduling.
Treatment may last from 18 to 30 months, though this will vary depending on your individual case. Appointments are typically scheduled from 4 to 12 weeks apart. Your cooperation in keeping scheduled orthodontic appointments, maintaining proper hygiene and taking care of your braces may allow you to finish your orthodontic treatment early or may cause a delay and/or additional cost.
Communication
Written correspondence such as appointment cards, work and schools excuses are provided to our patients. If a parent is not present during an appointment, the child will be given these documents. Please make sure that you receive and review any pertinent information. Keep in mind that it is the patient’s responsibility to make all appointments on time. West Georgia Orthodontics will allow a 10-minute grace period before cancelling an appointment and assessing a $50.00 missed appointment fee. Because of availability missed appointments should be rescheduled immediately.
